Guarantor Loans

I wander if anyone can help me. I am looking to get a guarnator loan and my gf has agreed to be my guarantor. She has a good credit profile but isnt a home owner. Can anyone suggest a good company to use?

  • Mate, from what i have read on these forums, i would strongly advise against one of these loans.

I guess due to the very fact you are thinking of getting this type of loan, your credit isn't so good.

However, the interest rates, the grief and all things that go alongside these loans, i would reconsider your options.

I am sure other members will offer better advice, good luck.

Get your girlfriend to take a loan out in her own name and give you the cash.

She will get a MUCH better rate so you repay less overall.

She can also keep a good eye on the repayments so she won't miss it when you decide not to repay it.

Get her to post on here though so we can all convince her NOT to get involved with this horrific idea of yours. You are taking her for a mug.
  • Apples2 is correct, as a guarantor she has full liability for the whole of the debt so she might as well get it in her name in the first place and give the money to you. She'll get a better interest rate too.

Please read the friends and family sticky at the top of this board though (both of you) this hardly ever ends well. Please post on the DFW boards and get some advice about living within your means rather than going down this road.
I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

Cant say anything better than the advice posted by Apples2
  • Ritchie, in February this year it was Pension Backed Loans, August was Ratesetter, now October and a Guarantor loan.

As Apple says, your gf is the one who's going to end up saddled with the loan taken out for you ~ at least let her take it out at a rate which is more favourable for HER.

Take it from someone who's been there. It's time to tackle the problem properly. Post your SoA on the Debtfreewannabe section so people can help with the real problem.

Unless you take action your situation will only get worse ~ don't think your gf deserves that, do you?

I third Apples, she knows her stuff. If you need to raise some money look to your own spending first, and see how you can cut down on buying things you want. Learn the difference between wants and needs.

I always assumed you were too, Apples.

The trouble is, in post #9 you appear to be dancing like a girl. :rotfl:
