So, I have finally plucked up the courage to start my own diary.

A little bit about me:

I am 24 (25 next week) and is currently drowning in debt. It all started when i turned 18 i "treated myself" to a Debenhams credit card where you spent £500 in one transaction and didn't need to pay anything for something like 6 months.

Safe to say i never paid it off and took out a loan with my bank and numerous credit cards.

I started the year by increasing my loan to pay off my credit cards. I paid them off and then started using them again :mad:

I have had a pretty bad couple of months, been off work with depression which i have been suffering since 17 and dealing with a complusive eating disorder. I have now realised that my complusive eating and spending is linked to my depression, but that has only recently come out.

I used to think spending money on things i didn't really need would make me feel better, but now just sat here thinking how stupid i have been :(

I am now also trying to lose the weight that i have put on from my eating disorder, so i will be writing my weight loss here too.

I had my LBM on the 18th October when i realised i have maxed out my credit cards and didn't think i would be able to pay my minimum payments ( i have previously been using overtime money which we have only just been told is stopping).

So enough rambling from me, i am off to breakdown what i owe......

Good luck with getting your debt down. Have you posted an SOA YET?

48 months to rid your debt isn't that long, if you can chuck more at it that will bing it down

    Thanks

    Start Oct 12 Debt: - £45.500 -
    Debt Snowball [STRIKE]39[/STRIKE] - 37 Months - June 2016

  • So my debts as of 28/10/2012:

    Natwest Loan: £10710.42
    Natwest CC= £4054.64
    Virgin CC= £2262.46
    Barclaycard= £1698.82

So the virgin as gone up because of the interest and not because of the spening :D

I decided to use a 0% credit card to pay £500 off the Next account. The APR is horrendous  It as 3 months at 0% so tha is my aim to pay it off.

The very account is currently on BNPL deal so no interest providing i pay it off beforehand.

The natwest credit card is also on a 0% for18 months.

  • So i paid off the remaining £100 off my Next account last night which means that is cleared :j:j Never again will i be using that card.

Also had some good news from Natwest a couple of days ago. They have put £500 in my account from a savings account that i had a 16 that they incorrect charged fees on. Will be putting most of that towards some of the debt.

For the 1st time in a long time i feel in control of dealing with my debts.

  • Just paid off £140 off the argos card so that is cleared :j. That has been the only balance on there. i bought a chest freezer 2 months ago. Thought it would help us reduce our grocery shop as we can now batch cook.

The theory being it would save us money in the long run. Never paid interest on it which was good :D
