Sunday 28 October daily thread

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Body clock didn't take advantage of the extra hour in bed! But I turned the heating on last night so I'm warm and toastie. Dogs curled up next to me. House is a tip,so this week I will gut it, cleaning and Decluttering. This is money saving as we were going to go out every other day with the boys. Will start today with the bathrooms. Lunch today will be cupboard leftovers whilst dinner will be chicken and something. Need to get more into MSE winter mode and get back to having some meat free days as well. Off to read the preparing for winter thread again!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

Good morning esmf73 and to all who cross/follow,
Very cold here this morning, we have quite a sharp frost.
Hubby has gone to work, the girls and the dog are still asleep.
Plumber is coming round this morning to get all of the pipe work in place for the girls radiators.
Ds and his gf are coming round lunch time. She is cutting our hair.
Need to put a load of washing on so that i can get that on the airer.
Chicken for tea tonight with potatoes and veg. We are still working our way through the vegetables we put in the freezer that were grown on the allotment.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all - I had a really good night's sleep, but apparently DH spent all night on the sofa watching Bond movies. He's fast asleep there with assorted cats and the TV still going. We were having a snuggly evening last night when one of his idiot friends involved in the voluntary stuff sparked off a row on the internet, and I was immediately abandoned for the laptop. Put myself to bed in disgust.
Got to prep the house as Mum arrives tomorrow for a week. Off shopping later when the shops open. Roast chicken tonight, and most of the laundry is done but not put away (DH can do that as penance). Just general tidying and hoovering required.
Have a good day everyone, and don't forget to change any manual clocks/watches"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -
Morning all
The fridge seems ok still though it's taking a while to get really cold.
Roast lamb for lunch as the butcher was selling half shoulders for £3.99.
We have carrots & cabbage in the garden still to go with it, I shall cook it in my Remoska with the potatoes to save putting the oven on.
We need to buy some water for the fish tank, it's an expensive hobby, fish keeping, lol.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester

Hi all,
I'm annoyed that my boyfriends still asleep, when we're meant to be going to car boot this morning.0 -
Good Morning x
Just back from ferrying kids to work. I had a disturbed night as DS2 had a paddy and ended up fisting the door:eek: Really upset me as he is generally very laid back (almost horizontal). Then DD came in at 1.30am sobbing so had to get up and sort her out. Then up to take DS1 to work (made DS2 walk) and he had fake blood all over his face as he had been to a Halloween party and could not get it off - wonder what his customers will make of that.
Going to a Christmas Fayre - need to get out of the house as Im feeling quite low and SAD. Bit of a horrid day yesterday.
Im in the process of rescuing a litter of hedgehogs who wont make it though the winter

One down and 5 to go x
Hugs for a good day - Hester really hope you get a good break this week xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone,
Molly Hugs to you, you do seem to be having a tough time at the moment.
Hester Do you really have to buy water for the fish?
OH has gone off for a bike ride and the girls and I are soon off to church. DS has rugby training.
Need to tidy today before the return to work tomorrow.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning, but in my case it's not so good.
Ds2 who is 7 months old was not well last night with tummy ache and we had hours upon hours of screaming fits, gave him calpol and Infacol just Incase it's colic again?
He's up crawling about playing with his toys but he seems ok?
Dh is in bed still, he also complained he wasn't feeling right? And ds1 who is 5 is full of beans this morning and m doing my best to wake up whilst having a large coffee.
As I didn't know how the day would unfold I've seasoned a whole chicken from tesco which was refuced to £2.25 with a Maggi cube and chucked it in the sc, so I can focus on sorting the kids and my dh with his manflu lol.
I'm not doing any washing today as the gas and electric prices are going up I'm trying to stick to doing the washing on Monday, Wednesday and a Friday on a 40 degree wash but I press the time saver button which brings the time down to 45 mins, and my whites go on a 60 degree wash but yet again I can get the cycle down to 1hr instead of 2hrs.
I've walked around our flat and turned the radiators down as it can get stuffy in our bedrooms and the hall can. As I'm on pre pay meters hopefully il notice a little difference?
Dw is only going on a fast wash and anything that needs longer will get soaked before hand.
Money is getting really tight for us and I'm aiming for a few nsd's, I can't do a week but I can go 4-5 days so I'm going to aim for that starting from yesterday.
I'm now going to sort all the clocks out and get the beds made.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j
