How You Comp Question

Options
Hi all, been a comper for a few months now but not sure if im doing it in the best time saving way so wondered if i could ask a question.

How i do it is:

Go to competitions
Scroll down to bottom and change tab to " Thread Title"
Then as i am usually only a day or so away from comp ending i find the page the day i want starts
I find a comp i would like, click on it , enter it, close comp window but then on my mse page i hit thanks and enter tick but then i tick back to take me to original page.

I tried once using the " next" button but found this then took me somewhere random, so just wondered of any tips on how im doing it. thanks

    • I go work by the date the comp is posted on the forum - so I just keep up with the newest ones.
    • I right click on any interesting threads and open them in new tabs.
    • When I have about 20 or 30 tabs open, I go through each thread, and enter the comp in it. (Or skip it.)
    • Then I click the tick or cross for entered or skipped.
    • And click the thanks button too.
    • Then close the window.
    • When I'm back to just one tab - which is just the comps board, I start again where I left off, on the next lot of unread threads.

I do it similar to pootler, other than I open and do one comp at a time. I start each time from where I left off and work my way to the latest comp posted.

While I'm comping, I have 2 Word files open. One is my normal comp doc. This is where I record:
    • the date/time of the comp I reach when I stop
    • where I'm up to in checking the FB winners thread
    • a list of everything useful to copy and paste when needed, such as my email address and other details, various card numbers (Necter, Waterstones), special user names that I need from time to time and anything I might need to copy and paste
The other file I comp with is my personal regular comps, which I add to when I come across a daily or weekly comp I want to keep up with.
I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
    I make no apology
    THIS IS ME!

Hi sam, I have asked the same question in my earlier days and got some excellent advice which im using to this day,
I have searched through all 12 pages of posts by myself and cant find it, but im sure theres a few posters who will be able to point you towards some threads with the same question.

I WAS comping by end date but in the last couple of weeks have started to alter it due to missing end early/daily ones etc..
(i would now NOT recommend doing it by next day ending try to get infront by a week at least - if you find that hard as iAM doing just pick a day where there arent that many ending and take it from the day after then youre already 2 days infront)

Trying typing in search box 'how to comp' or soemthing like that there is loads of them 'somewhere'??
Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:

I am similar but I sort by end date (but struggle to keep up!!).
Right click the comp link to open a new tab and enter then thank, and click entered.
That way you dont lose your place on the comp list. I only do one or two tabs at a time though. At the end of a comping session I copy the URL of the MSE page i am on and save it in a notepad file on my desktop.
Next day - copy the URL back to the address bar and all the comps are still in date order, so you start again from where you left off.
I also like doing facebook comps as I have had a lot more success with them so I will start by searching for e.g 'E: 27/10 FB' as these often close early on the same day
Also Roboform can save a lot of time if you don't use it? (it's free)

i just enter comps as they are set out from most recent posts and work my way through the days comps, yes they are ending on all sorts of end dates but i know ive entered them. i keep track of the time i start doing them so i know im not missing any posts even if theyve been bumped for some reason, in the past i used to try and do comps ending within the next two days but i felt i was overcomplicating things worrying if i was missing any at least if i enter as and when theyre posted i know im ok. the only downside from doing them with mixed end dates is ive no idea how many comps ive entered that have actually finished now!
Comping Life- wake up in morning, get excited about postie comin, bit more excited as u check emails 1st time, get deflated NO wems!,get more deflated as postie brings junk, enter comps,go to work, wonder if delivery vans brought a surprise!,come home nope no surprises!,check again for wems nope still disappointed!,enter more comps, time for bed,REPEAT!

I'm like pootler, except I use this as my link, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&f=72&page=1&pp=200&sort=lastpost&order=asc&daysprune=2

I then go to the first post that was 'yesterday' and work all the way to 'the first comp comp of 'today' (if I'm running behind then I change daysprune value to 3 or however many I need)

After doing those comps I go to Search > Advanced Search, put tmrw's date in the box ie "29 10", change it to searching in thread titles only, unceck the child forum box and then search for all the comps that end tmrw, firstly in date of latest posted, then earliest if over 300 comps.
Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...
