Want to push for Letting Agency Regulation and make comment about their fees ? Have a say about tenancy agreements and how they do or don't work well?
"The Communities and Local Government Committee has decided to conduct an inquiry into the private rented housing sector.
The Committee invites submissions from interested parties covering the quality and regulation of private rented housing, and levels of rent within the sector. "

Thank you.., on my way now (but only as a private tenant.., not sure they'll be interested).0

Tenants are 'interested parties' as much as anyone else!0

The deadline for submissions is 11am on 17 January 2013.

You could tie it in with a letter/email to your local MP on the shortcomings of the current private sector rentals market, based on your own experience of it http://www.theyworkforyou.com/
Remember that, previously, ARLA and the LL associations fought off calls for formal regulation within the sector. They will no doubt be busy again.0 -
I do... I am about to fork out £360 for ONE credit check/ref!!!!!!
Far Quinn outrageous I say.
P.S. I did tell them they were taking the P155 .... the words fell out of my mouth0 -
Poll now added - thought it may be interesting to see which areas were of most concern to MSE contributors.:)0

Thanks for this. Good idea, and I just voted. :T0

Voted for better regulation of both landlords and letting agents.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I voted for everything except rent, retaliatory evictions, and tenancy agreements.
I think that regulation is the main thing - if this gets off the ground then it's a really important start.
However, if councils don't have the resources and/or inclination then it's going to be a damp squib. There was a clear case of illegal eviction recently on here, from where I live, and yet the council did not act - whether through ignorance of the law / lack of interest / lack of resources, despite it being a flagrant breach which we read about elsewhere on the Shame a LL thread.0 -
Thanks to those who have already taken the time to vote. Any more like to add their voice?
I think I should have set the poll up slightly differently so that the ongoing results are immediately visible within the thread rather than people having to click " view poll results" to see them. Don't think there is a way to alter it now.
Anyway, no surprise that the regulation of LAs and dealing with their spurious fees is the front runner so far.0 -

I can't speak for others, but poll results automatically appear at the top of the screen when I click on the thread.0
