Hello There,
Today my laptop started throwing spam pop up's at me.
I have installed:
Avira Free (which Up dates it's self daly)
Malwearbytes which I just updated & scanned whole lap top. Found 35 nasty's & got rid of them, but still the pop up's are there.
And Armor, which said there was no updates since 27th of December 2010
. I updated it by finding the free new version on line & it loaded that onto my laptop then closed down & restarted the laptop.
But it is still saying last update 2010, a small message came up saying unable to up date check security & ask our help desk or similar words.
So basically HELP!.
How do I get Armor to work properly?. Should I uninstall it & re install?
And how do I get rid of the spam pop up's?
I uninstalled Armor & Re installed Armor. It scanned my laptop bvut I am still getting the pop up's
Thank You

Hi,
I am useless with computers so bear with me.
I am just running Superantispywear which found 16 critical & 700 odd other cookie things. It has been getting rid of them now for over one hour.
When I click on Avira it says Free Antivirus. Your computer is not secure. So I click on fix problem. It say's to make your computer secure preform a update. I click O.K & it say's access denied.
What is a hijackthis log?
Will install & run CCleaner once Superantispywear has finished, if it ever does!
Pop up's come from anywhere, I click a thread on this forum in different sections & the pop up's pop up, same all over the net.
Having said that, it has not happened now for 10 mins so I am hoping the Superantispywear has got rid of it as it is working.
But I need to sort out the Avira any ideas?
Once the Superantispywear has finished would uninstalling Avira & then re- installing it correct the problem?
Thank You

see speedup sticky thread above about hijackthis
SAS often overstates the dangers of it's findings, cookies can just be deleted in the browser in a few seconds, or by using ccleaner
do a quick scan with tdsskiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208280684!!

Is it usual for it to take 2 hours & counting LOL.
Will look at the sticky now
Thank's
Any ideas on Avira?. Un install & re install?

one step at a time, the hijackthis log is the starting point
if you overload the machine with security software, it will be slow, and scans can be slow.
you could uninstall avira, and use avast free instead http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
scans may be faster (and results less worrying) if you run ccleaner first
answer the armor question, online armor firewall?
post the malwarebytes, and sas logs
if you've installed spying/survey software to earn a few cents, they may be picked up by the AV products.
which browser are you using!!

I'm still searching for the hijackthis log I can't see it at the moment.
Would of been a better idea to run ccleaner first, can see that now. I will run that next when Superantispywear has finished. It's a inch from the end so about another hour LOL.
When I click Avira it say's Internet protection Fire wall, web protection, mail protection so I guess it's mostly for the Firewall protection.
I think I have windows I.E 8 installed. Tried to up grade to 9 this week but had to uninstall it again because it does not work at all, just a blank page.
I use chrome browser as it is less cluttered than I.E.

Searching for what, run it to produce the log, step 1
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2436849
run ccleaner too, it doesn't matter about sas running at the same time
have you paid for avira?!!

I searched Amazon clicked search bar pop up happened
I searched a health forum, clicked on a thread pop up happened
I searched Competition section here, clicked on a competition pop up happened.
I searched Toluna Survey website, clicked on a survey pop up happened
So it is anything really just randomly pops up. But I think Superantispywear has got rid of it as it has not happened for half a hour now so it must of got rid of it while it's still working getting rid of all the other 700 odd thingsThis Post Has Been Sponsored ByChocolate0 -
Hi,
Right laptop is clean. Nothing found & have used cclean.
I un installed Avira Free Firewall & tried to download it again but it won't download. I keep clicking the download but nothing happens so for now I downloaded microsoft security essentials but have read some reviews that say's it's not as good as others.
Will try Avira again tomorrow, but at least my laptop is clean & no pop up's
