Great way to get extra crispy bacon

I found an unusual way of cooking bacon (well to me it was) last week on Pinterest, tried it and it was a success.

It is just like the bacon on a BLT, lovely and crunchy, without the need to keep going back to check the grill and you don't waste any money on preheating the oven.

  • Thanks - this is similar to how I cook sausages! Just lay them out on a rack over an oven tray, no need to do anything other than cut the strings between them, and they cook perfectly in 20 minutes at about 150c - just turn them over half-way through. No more burnt bits, no more raw bits, just perfectly cooked sausages and you can do as many as you like all at once.

I do sausages like this if I have the oven on for wedges/ jackets but hate the thought of having the oven on hot for 20 mins just to cook some bacon when an do it on one ring in 10 mins. But if you had the oven on anyway I guess...

Thanks, I will try that, so you start them off just the same, in a cold oven?

I take it as they are cooked on a low heat they don't get very brown.
