Hi all,
I am a kitchen gadget junkie and my lastest crave is a Thermomix, so much so I have just advertised my beloved Vitamix to pay towards one.
My question is - are they worth it?
Its a big chunk of cash and I don,t want to be dissapointed.
Do you have one? If so, how often do you use it?
Thank you in advance x

My daughter has one.She uses it every day in Australia .She is now living in Singapore and shipped it out there and said she cant do with out it. 3/4 months ago it stopped working and who ever she bought it from exchanged it for a new one.
I did look at them but the price put me off.Oh she did tell me there is a recipe in the recipe book that makes Gloop the clothes washing liquid.
But if i won the lottery i would buy one as like you i love gadgets.

I take it this is something which is advertised on shopping channels and at food fairs?
Let's face it, it's a glorified food processor
The suppliers seem to be extraordinarily reticent to state how much it costs but a quick look on Google suggests a minimum of £900
As an alternative you could get the My Cook Heated Mixer. It doesn't come with an integral set of scales but it has a more powerful motor. It still costs an eye-watering £720 though.

In contrast you could get a top of the range Kenwood mixer complete with all the attachments - apparently the delivered package weighs over 23Kgs - for £572. Chuck in a set of scales and you'll still have change from six hundred quid.

Ok that ensemble won't heat up but I've seen very few heated food mixers on the internet which leads me to think there's no demand for them. Certainly, having worked in several restaurants, I've never seen any in use.0 -
I am now in Singapore and my daughters one is called Thermochef its a copy of the Thermomix. It does same as Thermomix and you use the same recipes as Thermomix .Its much cheaper but seems you can only get it in Oz.

In Australia when you buy the Thermomix you seem to buy it from a agent who gets commission for selling it to you. Then in the agreement you sign for the sale you agree to hold 2 parties where you invite your friends round so you try to sell to them !
