I guess it depends on what you are looking for. We had the Kenwood for ages (paid about £20 for it) but it drove me mad when I had to clean it and I found the spout very clumsy.
We now have the Magic Bullet (there are other similar ones around) it does individual size cups as well as a few other tricks. Can be bought from Woolies or EBay for about £30; there is another thread just on the Bullet. It is brill.

I have read that a hand blender is just as good if you already have one of theseBart is mooning the Banks!

will agree with above , my daughter makes them all the time , and always uses the hand blender (moulinex) , above anything else ,0 -
I agree with the hand blender. This is all I use and you have no fiddly spout etc to clean, just the jug and bits.DTD - Doing Tesco Daily - while I still have vouchers!0

I use a standard blender - I personally prefer it to using a hand held blender, but that's just my opinion!!
Not sure i'd actually buy a smoothie maker as they seem to be very fiddly to clean, and not as flexible as a blender.

currys are selling one for 9.99 ,its a disney one tho0

Another vote for a traditional blender, not a hand one. Smoothie makers are a pain to clean.0

empire catalogue had a juice maker for 9.99, but they are out of stock
why can't they just take the pic off the site when they all go instead of getting my hopes up??
