Choppy sound and video

Options
Hi Everyone,

I'm having trouble watching youtube and my satellite card on this pc, everytime you move the mouse or open another application the sound and video becomes choppy.

I have installed the maximum ram the pc will take 2Gb, made sure the flash is up to date, checked for infections etc but cannot get to the bottom of it.

The pc has onboard graphics - intel 82945g chipset. Could this be an issue?

The PC is running vista home basic 32bit - Commit total 1.05Gb - Hijack this log below.

Many thanks in advance, much appreciated.

A PC that takes a max of 2GB RAM? Sounds as if you need to fit a Graphics card. Budget about £25 for a new one.

    Make and model number?
  • Thanks Nifty,

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA 945GZM-S2 running a 2.8 celeron.

I used the crucial tool to identiry the maximum memory.

    A no name PC?
  • You need some extra ram and possibly processing power depending on how old your pc is
  • The pc brand went out of business a few years ago 'IQON'. Sort of confirming what i was thinking - time to retire this one lol.

A Graphics card will do. I have a similar spec PC. Without the Graphics card that I added, I could forget about watching HD Video.

Example: Asus ATI Radeon HD 5450 Silent Graphics Card (1GB, DDR3, PCI-Express, Low Profile Design, Low Profile Bundled Bracket) £24.59

Not at all. My PC has much the same spec. Now I've paired it with a 24" inch Full HD monitor in order to watch my 1080p material. Without the Graphic cards, it would not have been possible. £25 made all the difference.
  • I have a spare PCI slot but a bit unsure when it comes to graphics cards. The pc ram is DDR2 - does the graphics card memory have to be compatible with the pc ram or is just unique to the card.

It's a PCI Express slot and no it doesn't matter about the RAM.

Will send you a PM in a bit.
  • Thanks for your help so far Nifty,

I have 3 pci slots, above slot 1 the mobo has pci express written on it - would this mean all 3 slots are express?

This mobo has full height cards
