Do I need to check Facebook/twitter for wins?

I only use facebook and twitter for entering comps, so I know very little about them.
If I was lucky and won a competition...........do they usually email you.......or post something on your facebook/twitter page (which I would miss)
I wonder if people had won facebook or twitter comps if they could tell me how they were notified please
thank you

I am useless with Facebook, so won't try to answer that. However, I can tell you that for twitter competitions, there are two ways that you find out that you have won. Both ways involve you checking your twitter feed. One way is to send you a Direct Message (DM), in which case you need to check your messages. The other way is to send you an @ message. You would see this if you check your @ mentions.
Depending on how you have your twitter settings, you may get an email from twitter telling you when you have a new direct message, or when someone has @ mentioned you.
Good luck.
Hopefully someone else will be able to explain about facebook.0 -
Facebook is complicated and not all companies e-mail u, some just post it on their wall so it is easily missed, especially now facebook only let u see some posts from the pages u like. You now have to add them to an interest list (when u hover over like on a page once u have liked them it comes up with a little list, add to interest list and create a name.) Hope this helps. I missed one last week luckily a friend told me. So now I have to check them all individually it's a pain but worth it if we win. Sorry if it's a bit long winded i am half asleep after a very long day lol.Thank you so much to everyone who posts :j :T :T :j :beer:0

I almost missed a Links of London win on Facebook! It was one of my friends on my 'real' account that said to me a week later 'oh, congrats on your win' and I was pretty confused until I checked out the Links of London page!
Another Facebook win was from Feel Unique and I found that someone had posted in the Facebook win thread on here, otherwise I could have missed that too!
Both of these were Pintrest competitions though. Ones where I've entered via the app and won, they've emailed me.0 -

Thank you for that post Cazispen.
Using the information on that link i just found I had won a Pyrex competition.
They had messaged me regarding the win on FB, but it ended up in the 'Others' folder with no alert that a message had been received.
Without that link I would have definitely missed it.0 -

From my experience if you enter fb/twitter you need to check your facebook messages and or twitter direct messages but they'll never post something on your page and leave it at that.0

I entered one twitter competition recently (not from here), just a quickly ending one that I spotted on twitter, where the promotor was really devious and mentioned me as the winner on their timeline, but did not put the @ directly in front of my user name, therefore unless I kept watching their tweets, I had no way of knowing I had won. They did this deliberately to quite a few other winners. I have never known any other twitter competition to be so sneaky.
Funnily enough, in their tweet, they referred to a Conpetition and I reckon this was about right. They did not really want to have to give away a prize. I will keep an eye on their timeline and if I happen to spot other winners noted, I will send them and @ message to claim their prize.0
