  • Start by making sure you are on the electoral roll - that is essential these days for any sort of credit. No good applying for credit till you are definitely on the electoral roll!
Then start by getting a SIM only cheap monthly phone deal, pay it on time for 3-6months and you should be able to get an upgrade to a phone contract with free phone etc. You can also try to get a Credit Card for those with poor or no credit history, like a Vanquis card, pay it off in full every month and then apply for a mainstream card after a year or so.
Your own bank may also look more favourably on your lack of credit history and give you a card, although it sounds as if you have already applied for overdrafts etc. do not apply for dozens of things at once or in a short space of time as this will flag up as dodgy with credit companies and banks.

its a process and wont happen over night.

Get yourselves on the electoral roll at your home address.

If you are the home owners credit will be more easily available, if not, after being on the electoral roll for 6 months - 1 year you can try applying for a barclaycard initial credit card and then start to build up a credit profile.

Overdrafts, personal loans, etc. you generally need 3 years traceability on electoral roll or history with the bank and repayment history on other finance.

Any finance you get now will likely be at extortionate rates...

Dont apply for anymore credit for at least 6 months, The failed attempts kill your future chances of credit.

In 6 months if you have the same address and work for the same company your risk will have got better.
