Default on CC payment affecting Bank Account

My situation is that I am unfortunately in a position where I will no longer be able to make my CC payments.
I understand that this will probably result in a CCJ against me issued by my credit card company - Barclaycard.
Given that I also bank with Barclays, will my default on my CC payments adversely affect my bank accounts.(P.S. I am not overdrawn and I have a small positive balance).
Will my bank account be closed down and any positive credit be automatically taken?

in a similar position with lloyds i wrote to them and asked them to freeze the interest and changes and set up a payment plan - CAB advised me that they would probably even accept £1 a month - have you tried explaining your situation to them?
Sorry no expert but lots on here are so sure you'll have more advice soon0 -
barclays can 'offset' your barclaycard debt from your current a/c.. i.e. can take money from your current account to pay off your barclaycard.
open a new current a/c with a bank you have no debts with and move your income to the new bank asap.0 -
Clapton, that's basically what I've heard before but I just wanted to hear what other people's experience of this situation was.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0

Yep Barclays done that to us
We had some money in an account for an emergency and when our current account went overdrawn they took the money from the savings account and used it to pay the charges and the overdrawn amount.
We closed the accounts not long after.

Hi there
Have you spoken to Barclaycard and advised them that you're having difficulties making payments?
I would stongly advise that you do as difficult as it may be. A CCJ will stay on your file for 6 years and affect your future with possible mortgage/renting applications. I defaulted on a credit card 3 years agao and because of this I am currently having problems getting a mortgage with a high street lender.
If you can, ring them - they should be able to help you and if not, you've tried.
Good luck.Still in debt but with a positive attitude and enjoying watching it decrease each month. :beer:0 -
