Sick Leave

What can you legally do when on sick leave?
My case is,
I have cartilage damage that needs a small op to put right. Waiting on the date to have it done.
I can't do my duties on the chemical plant outside, but I could do inside in the control room. But if I stumble at work in the control room due to the knee and injure myself they would say I shouldn't be there and should be on sick leave. There is no pressure to go into work I should add.
I don’t want to go out shopping or exercising but I can however get about but with a limp and could attend a hobby that is non physical and involves standing for say 8 minutes every hour then seated in between.
So does sick leave confine you to the house or is there some leeway?
Links to docs appreciated

The case could be argued that in order to fully rehabilitate the injury you will need to maintain a range of motion in order to ensure it's ready for a return to work. I think the majority of places unless you're claiming you're unable to do anything would be alright with you being out and about so long as you're not putting your recovery in danger.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0
