Hi all,
I bought an iPad 3 from John Lewis 12 days ago, and have just found out the iPad 4 is coming out.... Apple stores are reportedly swapping any iPads bought in the last 30 days. Can anyone advise what to do? Does anyone know whether John Lewis will refund it if it's not faulty?
Thanks

John Lewis are supposed to have a lifetime refund policy now but I have never tried to use it. Other than that they still have their 30day refund so you should be OK as long as you've kept box & everything.0

What happened in the end? I bought an Ipad 3 from John Lewis three weeks ago, about a week before the new model was launched. This week John Lewis have led me a merry dance.
I called the Oxford St store (though apparently this is actually a call centre somewhere else) and was told that while they wouldn't exchange one Ipad for the other, I just needed to go to any store with all the original packaging etc and I would get a refund. At the store, the "Technical Support" person virtually bit my head off and basically accused me of lying about the conversation I had had on the phone. He seemed to think I was somehow trying to con them! I then got a long and polite "no we will not give you a refund" from the electronics floor manager. However, my hopes were up again when he told me I should go to Apple and, for "10 to 20%" of the original purchase price extra, they would do an exchange for me, even though I had not bought the item from them. So off I toddled to Apple Store Covent Garden (the John Lewis manager had helpfully told me this one would be less busy than the closer Regent St store), who basically laughed at me. They told me to sort it out with John Lewis it has nothing to do with Apple.
Were they all just fobbing me off, or does no-one at John Lewis really know what's going on with this Ipad3/4th gen Ipad? Not happy with this treatment or the fact that I am now stuck with a £500 bit of kit that was obselete in a week. Humph. Anyone else had a similar experience or managed to get the wretched thing swapped?0 -
Hi
I bought the ipad 3 two weeks before the new one came out from tesco . I returned mine under there normal returns policy for any item with all packaging and the ipad was open and never had a problem i got a full refund. They didnt ask for why i was returning it as it was within the return period .
I imagine John Lewis be the same belonging its within there returns time scale0 -
theres always going to be a new model around the corner with most things ,will the 4 be much better than the 3 ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It Definatly has nothing to do with Apple, they will not give you a refund for something bought at John Lewis and whoever told you they could offer a discount off a new one was lying - report them.
The best chance you have of getting a refund is at John Lewis. Good luck.0
