So - wow - ages since I last posted…
This was (the essence of) my signature then:
LBM Jun 2012: Total debt - £22,000.
Target 30 Nov 2012 - Sub £10,000.
Result ==> Actual as at 30 Nov 2012 was £9,940 - YAY!
However, it's got worse since then I'm afraid. I needed to spend money on my rental flat and the house (£1,500), I lost about 2.5 weeks rent (£600), and of course Xmas was expensive (flights mostly, was pretty restrained on pressies).
So the upshot is that my debt has crept back up to £12,700. However I do have cash reserves of £1,200.
In fact the focus has changed completely with sprog #2 on the way... I need a savings pot of at least £8,000 by May time to be able to pay for (part-time) nursery,and other various things while I'm on maternity leave…
So all the debt has been moved onto interest free and am focusing on building this savings pot. Most of the debt is on for 2 years and the rest will be transferred again once it comes up. I have a brilliant credit rating for what it's worth - full points of 999…
So challenges for this month:
- Spend less than £400 which will be tight as already blown £60 on petrol and £125 on maternity wear!
- Which will leave a saving of £200. Miserable this month as I'll be paid for December when I hardly worked at all…
- Cancel some old credit cards. I've got too many and many of them have a near zero balance. But I seem to have all the ones offering the best 0% rates so I should cancel to be able to take advantage of the best rates in the future.
Long term challenge:
- Save £8,000 by 01/05/2013
- Target DFD - erm 2015???
LBM Jun 2012: Total debt - £22,000.
31 Dec 2012: Total debt - £12,710. All on long term 0%.
Baby Savings: 31 Dec 2012: £1,2000
