What Bannatynes don't want you to know

I can't believe the email I just got from Bannatynes..
Had to stop the direct debit on my gym membership when I lost my job. They want 3 months fees for stopping my membership, I stopped going the day the fees were paid up to, they're after me for money I don't have. They are without a doubt the most ignorant brainless people I have EVER encountered. They don't give twopence about goodwill. Now they've offered to drop the matter if I find them a new customer! I've forwarded the email to Watchdog, I had to read it several times to actually believe what I was seeing. In the name of all that is holy keep away from that DREADFUL little man and his decrepit outfit. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Hello again.. I've read other people's posts about this rapacious nasty little company. Seems that they stick to their 'contract' until I can con someone else to go to them.. They can't understand that things change, you just got to accept it and move on LIKE A GROWN-UP.
You can bet your last cent that if their cowboy outfit of a co. went belly-up like woolworths etc, good old Duncan would be off like a shot to somewhere nice and sunny. Out of reach of the creditors I bet..
You see, that's the way it is. MOVE ON.
The internet's put power in the hands of the little guy. The big kids can't take your dinner money off you any more. We've got wise to all their tricks, their bullyboy tactics and their downright deceitful antics.
WE DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT THIS ANY MORE.
WAKE UP, PEOPLE!
We've all seen what the banks got up to. Who trusts banks now?
Don't trust anyone. They're all out to screw you.
Now let's realise something.. IT'S PAYBACK TIME0 -
So the three month notice of termination clause thats inevitably in the contract you agreed to means nothing then? How does slinging mud and insults at the firm absolve you from your responsibilities and obligations? I'm genuinely sorry that you lost your job, its happened tothe best of us but this is off the wall. The only person looking DREADFUL at the moment is staring at you out of the mirror.
The Watchdog people haven't stopped laughing yet I'm guessing.

Oh grow up! The only person playting baby here is the one staring at you out of the mirror.
Why did this nonsense need two threads and what has it got to do with the Olympics legacy?
The little sympathy I was feeling from your other thread has now evaporated.

I don't understand what point you are trying to make.
I agree that having to pay 3 months to cancel is a lot but then thats what the contact you sign at the start says. I too had to bite the bullet and cough up 3 extra months to cancel. That said, Bannatynes was a lot cheaper per month than most other gyms.
Sorry you have financial difficulties but your post is just a rant.0 -
it's a simple point. There's a simple premise in business, it's called goodwill. I would have gone back to them when things pick up, now there's not a chance. They can threaten all they like, but they'll give up in the end. They give up when you challenge them and stand your ground.
Trust me, this is not a rant. This is advice to anyone who wants to listen. The nay-sayers who respond to posts on here with their ill-thought out and frankly idiotic comments, awash with typos and bad grammar will always have something to say.. they all suffer from the "you can't do that" mentality. It's much easier than getting a grip and tackling these cowboys head-on. If you want to get ripped off, fine. I couldn't care less. We'll see who's laughing then. I've proved it before and I'll prove it again.
Have a nice life..0 -
You just present yourself as rather antisocial and bitter I'm afraid, and putting other forum contributors down will not serve you well. Many take time to write well thought out and helpful responses, true as it is that some do not many do.
A contract signed with a gym behaves the same as a contract signed with anybody else. It is an agreement to pay the amount stated for the duration stated, and if you wish to terminate early I do not doubt there is a termination clause within it which you should have been informed about. Oh, and before you say you were not made aware of such a clause it is much your responsibility to find out about earlier termination clauses as it is the gym's to inform you of it. For them to allow you to terminate early at no additional cost as a matter of 'goodwill' is no doubt at the discretion of the individual gym/management.************************************

So you didn't read the contract and now you expect them to change their terms and conditions (which you agreed to) because your circumstances have changed. You're just making yourself look ridiculous.0

Well, we are still waiting..."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Grown ups read contracts, think carefully about the implications, adhere to the contract when cancelling. If you had ever worked in a gym you would know the world and his dog has had a 'change of circumstances' that leads to them not cancelling their contract properly and wanting special treatment. If the big chains let everyone off they would go bankrupt or have to massively increase monthly fees. Several of them permit you to transfer to another club in the chain, take a break mid contract, cancel if you have a doctor's letter. If you want the nicey nicey approach join a council, YMCA, university, school or college gym don't fall for the big chain gloss and pretty sales girl.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Even the Council will want a month's notice from you if you die. I hardly think a commercial company, providing a luxury item, having 3 months' notice is something to get mad about. You chose them. You could have stayed in and eaten pies and chilled out instead.... looks like that'd have been a better use of your money.0
