Depends how much you earn normally in this job if you qualify
Their earnings must be at least as much as the Lower Earnings Limit for National Insurance contributions (NICs). This is £107 a week for 2012-13.0 -
Hi Thanx for reply,
I usually would have earned about £400 A week with giving up some shifts to go to college i earn roughly about £150-£250 :j:jSave 1500 - (Monzo Card Pot by Dec 2021) 1020/1500

As above really, are you actually on the sick? Do you have a sick note off your doctor?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Yes....
Whilst it is possible under some circumstances for people with two jobs to be off sick from one job but OK for another it does tend to get looked at very closely. An obvious example can be somebody unfit for manual work but OK for clerical. Work related stress can also be a reason in certain situations.
You would need a "fit note" from the doctor and it would help if he made clear why you were OK for college but not for work.
Be aware that your employer may well look at this closely. Have you been employed long enough to have protection from unfair dismissal (one year if employed before 1st April).0 -

The period over which the average is calculated for SSP purposes is eight weeks, assuming weekly paid then you take the last payday prior to the sickness beginning and the seven paydays that precede that one and divide by eight.
If for example a payday had no payment, say took unpaid leave one week, then this has to be included; so in this example you would have seven wages divided by eight weeks.0 -

Stictly speaking the employer can accept other evidance of sickness but is entitled to ask for a doctors fit note if they wish. From the employers' guide....
"You may also find that your employee gives you certificates from someone who is not a registered medical practitioner, such as:
• osteopaths
• chiropractors
• Christian Scientists
• herbalists
• acupuncturists.
You should consider such certificates on their own merits. It is for you to decide whether or not you accept this evidence. If you have any doubts you can still ask for a doctor’s fit note."0 -
I imagine if the OP is going to be off sick from work but still fit to go to college a sick / fit note from any of those would be looked at even more closely than one from a doctor!0

Absolutely, and if I was an employer I would be looking very closely at notes recieved from some (most) of these under any circumstances. Interestingly even the guidance has been toned down regarding these non-doctors notes it used to say something along the lines of notes like this were usually accepted for state sick pay (ie when SSP was not paid) but that has been dropped now.0
