Downbranding - finding cheaper brands with same ingredients

Can anyone recommend store own brands that truly use the same ingredients as the more expensive brand originals?
I am happy to buy less expensive brands of groceries, but often find that these have an inferior content (for example less protein, more sugar and fats), and even things I would like to avoid - such as palm oil (very high in saturated fats).
It doesn't always help to read the label either. Palm oil apparently can be described as vegetable oil.

It is quite far to the nearest one so I hadn't thought of that. I also assumed it would be expensive. How does waitrose own brand compare in price to the top brands, say at tesco?0
