Hi All ,
Not sure this is the right forum but no doubt some knowledgeable people on this site. I am thinking of creating a comparison website where users would review certain companies in the UK. This is a new area for me so i'd appreciate any advice on how such sites can work ( make money- i assume by advertising?) . Also what are the legal aspects? For examples can the companies i list for review stop me listing their name ? Do i need permission to list them ?. Also if any one know if there are any websites or other advisers i could ask about this, i would be grateful.
Many thanks in advance

Advertising is evidently the income stream either using PPC content sensitive from the likes of Google Adwords or affiliate marketing.
You don't need permission to use their name etc however both you and your web host would be liable for any libelous comments which are posted if you dont remove them. So the big question is what will you and/ or your webhost do if you receive a cease and desist notice from Sony's solicitors saying that the 3 negative reviews are fake/ inaccurate etc?
For you, evidently you need to ensure that genuine negative reviews stand otherwise people wont trust your site but then how do you test if they are genuine or not? At the same time, will your webhost support you or delete your site as soon as they get the threatening letter?0
