Australia online shopping - no amazon.au?

A friend of mine has recently moved out to Oz:cool: . His birthday is coming up soon and I thought I'd be clever and buy something from Amazon Australia, but there doesnt appear to be one.
I dont really want to buy it over here and pay the extortionate postal costs, so does anyone know of any good online shopping stores for Australians (along the lines of Amazon, Currys, Comet, PC World as he's into that sort of thing)?
Many thanks.

When I asked some Australians I know about an Australian Amazon they recommended fishpond. It has a dot com dot au and a dot com dot nz version.0
