Split Payrolls - Wage Rise

Hi folks,
I'm hoping someone may have some knowledge on this subject because it's really frustrating me.
At my place of employment, we have some staff who are paid weekly, and some staff who are salaried and paid monthly (am I paid monthly)
Historically, and I'm told this dates back to the 1960's, weekly paid staff have their wages reviewed in April. Monthly paid staff have their salaries reviewed in August.
Pay negotiations have been ongoing for months and today a 4% increase for all staff has been agreed.
Weekly paid staff are getting their wage increase back dated to April. But monthly paid staff are only having theirs back dated until
August.
To my mind, I am losing out on 4 months worth of extra pay. I'm staff just like everyone else. I'm entitled to the same terms as everyone else!
But because I'm on a different payroll and get paid monthly, I'm only been back dated until August.
I've raised questions about this at work and just keep being told "that's how it is, that's how it's always been"
I'd be very interested to hear any thoughts and opinions on this matter. Thank you.

If as you say 'weekly paid staff have their wages reviewed in April. Monthly paid staff have their salaries reviewed in August' then that's what they have done if they have only reviewed and increased salaries now.
If were due one in August then as you have said it will be backdated to August.
How are you missing out?0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I don't see why it's fair for some staff in a company to have their wages increased earlier than others.
Why should a guy working in the department next to me, have his pay rise backed dated to April but mine is only back dated to August?0 -
Did you get a pay review/rise last August? If so, the weekly paid staff won't have had their previous review for longer - so it makes sense. I'd have more sympathy for weekly paid staff if it was only backdated to August! My Debt Free Diary
