    I hope it went ok, K X :)
  • Hi Everyone

Thank you soooo much for all your kind messages, stories and best wishes. Your support has been incredible. This is the first chance I have had all day to get on here as been trying to do things to take my mind off everything! However I can confirm that I am now BR!

Took 33 minutes (yes I timed it!) in total from getting started. All the court staff were more than pleasant to me and I did not see the judge, he was happy to sign it off on paper. And that was that! I walked out of there 33 minutes later with my BR order and feeling very strange wondering what to do next.

I have spent the day chatting to my family and partner, eating cake (!) and general relaxing. I also had a quick chat with the OR who seems very nice and booked in my OR telephone interview.

How do I feel now? Flipping marvellous!

Oh wow boy do I feel relieved! I feel as if a weight has been lifted right off of my shoulders and a stress has been removed. I wish I could have paid it off but I tried my best. I know this was the right decision for me and although I know the next year will be hard and going forward, you can't beat removing a major stress that has been affecting my health and no doubt life expentacy.

    Thank you everyone, you have been AMAZING! x x x x x :T

YAY Newchapter! Glad it's over with! Onwards and upwards now eh??? :j So pleased for you. Not that you have gone bankrupt LOL, but that you are now free of debt.

As for you saying that you really tried to pay it off; I know you did, (like we all did,) and you don't have to justify it here...We tried and tried so hard to keep up with our payments on everything, but due to ill health and job loss, we had to give up in the end.

Bankruptcy is a legal process that is out there for anyone, and anyone is allowed to do it, and some people (and companies,) write off far far far more debt than we ever would. So nobody has to feel bad about it or like some kind of failure: all we felt was enormous relief, and our lives have been much more peaceful since.

Good luck for the future to you and your family. xxx
  • Thanks Lou67!

Yes such a major relief. I feel so much more relaxed tonight! As everyone, I am keeping my fingers crossed for an ED but if not normal is fine too :) Gives me time to prepare and plan.

It was exactly as everyone had said today would be, just an administration process. Nothing scary or to be particularly nervous of but I am pleased it is now over with!!

Thank you for help with all my questions and support

That's OK. :) Glad you're OK, and it went well, and it isn't scary at all is it once you're there is it? The staff were nice to us too and not judgemental or snotty at all. Guess they know that lots of people are doing this now. I mean, the court we went to was doing 25 a week - just in our one town! They know that most people don't mean to get to that position.

What is an ED by the way? (I've a feeling I should know this!) And did you get an IPA? or don't you know yet?
  • Oh sorry I am picking up on what others are putting on here lol. I meant early discharge :) But we shall see!!

Yes the staff were really fine, I know they have to be really but I was surprised how friendly and non judgemental they were!

I have telephone interview in just over a week with the OR to discuss the possibility of an IPA... My self employed is utter rubbish this month so if taking that into account it is going to be hard to see considering I have struggled to pay my household bills and borrowed from partner!!

Oh thanks. :) ED = Early discharge of course!

Hope you don't get a IPA. As your wage is a bit variable then it would be awkward for you. Fingers crossed. xxx
  • Hi, just thinking of you, so glad to hear that terrible weight has lifted from you. hope you've had your best weekend in a long time.

you sound blessed with a lovely, caring family, enjoy being able to sleep again, your post has helped me to feel a little less scared of BR if the situation i'm in at present is repeated. thankyou x
