RBS Telephone Interview

Hi all, I completed an online application for two positions at RBS and have recieved an automated message asking me to call them for a 20-30 minute telephone interview.
I assume I'll have to do this twice, the positions I've applied for are Customer Service Officer and Telesales.
Does anyone know what sort of questions etc. I'll be asked? Or any advice on how to prepare?
Thanks.

My other half has had two phone interviews with RBS.
He was told to ring within a certain time period. The first time he rang was within the specified time range but they said they'd already spoken to enough applicants so be sure to get in early.
The second time he did have the interview. They asked him basic numeracy questions which he had to answer, as well as the usual suspect questions at a job interview. The hardest bit he found was that they asked one comprehensive question whereby they require a well thought out answer. I think these are based on a pool of questions. His was 'describe a time in detail when you have sold something'?
He didn't get the job, but I don't think he was too prepared for it when the interview came up. They did let him know on the spot that he was not successful. I hope this helps and best of luck for your interview. Let us know how it goes :-)!CC1: £1000 £826

You might want to reconsider working for RBS. It appears that all the good guys bailed out when the, "Fred the Shred" scandal tainted them and they've yet to recover!

With an organisation of 141,000 employees it is a little hard to believe that all of the "good guys" left at the same time. Plus, he was much more known as Sir Fred or Sir FAG (fred anderson goodwin) internally than Fred the shred.
Didn't have the standard RBS interview when I joined there many many moons ago but it is what to be expected with any of these things.... quick chat about your experience and one or two questions of "give an example of when...". For customer service its going to be more about irate or difficult customers. For sales its probably about overcoming objections
For sales just remember that it is a regulated industry where hard sales/ trick tactics aren't supposed to be used. You are generally better giving examples where soft tactics were used instead or at least say your aware of the differences and are comfortable using either0 -
When I had mine many moons ago it was competency based.
Can you give an example of when you provided excellent customer service.
Can you give an example of when you have dealt with a high rate customer.
Type of questions....Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Fred was a neighbour (in his Clydesdale days) and no one could quite believe that he changed so much in his RBS guise. I'm pretty sure he is well compensated for taking the hit for being the, "evil of all banking wrong-doing in the UK" and his pension will be in what he chose not to shred.0

They have a bunch of people in HR who do them and I think it's easier to get people to call in, rather than trying to reach people and getting voicemail/not getting through.Thats a bit necky, telephone interviews I've done they've always called me!!!!
