Mileage Allowance Query

Hi folks just new and have a query i hope someone can help with.
We have just had an updated mileage allowance policy implemented in work and i'm not sure if it is correct:-
Basically, i am based in an office 40 miles from my home.
I travel to a number of other companies as part of my role on a daily basis. To make it more convenient for me i just have been reallocated a list of new companies which are all between 2 and 20 miles from my home. I have also been told as a result i can travel from home to these new companies and then home again if it isn't practical to come on into the office (unless i am really required at the office which is still my base).
Then the following was added to our handbook:
· Office to temporary place of work (meeting) to office – claim total mileage
· Office to temporary place of work (meeting) to home – claim total mileage minus your normal daily commute home mileage
· Home to temporary place of work (meeting) to office – claim total mileage minus your normal daily commute to work mileage
· Home to temporary place of work (meeting) to home – claim total mileage minus your total commute both to and from work mileage
Which means that if i leave home visit 3 companies and then go home i can only claim mileage of anything over 80 miles which would be my normal commute to and from work, is this right??
Thanks
