Half Price Beef Steak Mince

not sure if it has been posted but Mr T's is doing half price mince. 750g for £2.57 until 31/10/12. It works out cheaper than the everyday value mince if I'm doing my math right.:)

Just checked, their everyday value beef mince is:- 500g pack £1.56 (£3.12/kg) and 800g £2.70 (£3.38/kg). Bizarre that smaller pack is cheaper per kg than the larger pack. But I agree that the beef stk mince at £3.43/kg is by far the best value.

My store (an Extra) has loose steak mince at the butcher counter for £3.00 per kg but I bought the 750g packs as it looked nicer.

I'd recommend lidl as theirs is £2.49 or £2.59 for 800g for 100% British beef and its good.
Tesco value 800g is now just 750g this has decreased in a couple of weeks and is normally £2.80, the pack on offer is the same weight.

I believe some of the figures in a previous post may be wrong regarding Lidl Steak Mince as it is sold in 500g boxes. However, it still almost always works out to be the cheapest. In my local store it is £2.69, so at £5.38 per kilo is consistently the best value even when the major supermarkets are running a promotion/special offer on their steak mince. Also, most people buying "premium" mince are doing so because of the lower fat content and Lidl's steak mince has the lowest fat content at "not exceeding 10%" as most of the other shops' steak mince has a higher fat content at 12%

The Tesco steak mince on the butchery counter is £3.00 per kg at the moment as posted above.

It is nice and coarse and looked a lot nicer than the pre-pack, which is always finer minced at all the supermarkets so that you can't really tell what's in there!

Very little fat came off it.

Torchie, how is Lidl's £5.38 per kilo 'consistently the best value' when it is almost twice the price of this offer? That is pretty much standard price for mince in 500g pre-packs.

When I bought it last week it had a huge "new" sign above it and its 800g so may be coming into other stores shortly or are already available.

Sorry but that is not the same.

The Aldi one is not steak mince it is less than 28% fat, the Tesco one is less than 12% fat, far better quality than the Aldi one.

When you have drained off the fat from the Aldi you will be left with about 600g of meat if not less.
