Payslip amount different to money in bank

I've just finished one job and moved on to another. I was paid weekly and was owed a lot of holiday time (9 days). I was paid all of that in one lump sum along with my final payslip.
However, after tax, NI, student loan etc it says that I should've been paid £574.22
My bank says I was paid £504.22
What happened to that other £70?
Is this the bank's fault?
Or the employer's?
Who do I complain to to receive my additional £70?

I would ask your ex-employer as the net amount at the bottom of the payslip should be the amount they transferred to your bank.Light Bulb Moment - 11th Nov 2004 - Debt Free Day - 25th Mar 2011 :j0

OP is that a serious question?0

Go along and have a nice chat to your employers. I had this once (although it was part of a pattern of chronic underpayments) and they paid it in the next week.
If they don't pay up, then you could take them to an employment tribunal for unfair deduction of wages (although the mere threat of this should be enough to spur them into action!)0 -
Yes, unfortunately, it's a serious question.
I've never worked for scumbag employers before so genuinely never had it happen. I didn't want to go all guns blazing with my employer if it turned out the reason was with my bank. Needed 100% clarification first, which you've thankfully provided.
The second issue is that I've moved abroad to work and it took me a month to actually realise the discrepancy (payslip was sent to my parents and I've just seen it and checked it against the amount on my online bank statement).
How long do I have to take it to an employment tribunal if it turns out they're withholding money for no good reason (which obviously they are..)?0 -
3 months is the time limit for ETs, after the 3 months have passed you can still make a civil claim through the courts.0

you just ask your employer why there is a difference, easy.Yes, unfortunately, it's a serious question.

you just ask your former employer why there is a difference, not quite so easy when you are in a different country0 -
They do have phones and Internet abroad, y'know...LittleVoice wrote: »you just ask your former employer why there is a difference, not quite so easy when you are in a different country0 -

Sorry, it is not that difficult!! OP is able to come on here!
They still have the phones, internet etc.
And the employer doesn't have to be necessarily a scumbag.. we are all humans, mistakes sometimes happen!
I would just give them a ring and say .... errrgh.. I have different amount on payslip then in my bank, can you have a look into it?
There might not be anything sinister behind it.0 -
Oh so you can't phone them? Do they not have a phone line?LittleVoice wrote: »you just ask your former employer why there is a difference, not quite so easy when you are in a different country
You can't maybe email them? Maybe they do not have a contact email but that would be odd eh.
Or maybe write a letter? Maybe the OP has no idea where they are address wise?
Are you serious???0
