Getting rid of smelly urine on clothes

DS2 (aged 9) has a urinary tract infection (well, got to phone the doctors back to get results of urine test on Thursday, but I'm pretty sure it is) and is wetting the bed, with really horrible smelling wee (hence the thought that he's got a UTI). He's on antibiotics, so should be feeling better soon.
I've been washing everything as quickly as I can, with work and the 'lovely' weather - nothing dries in the mist!
His sheets, waterproof mattress protector, duvet and vests are coming up fine after washing and drying, but some of his pyjamas, particularly the polyester fleece ones absolutely stink still
I don't have any biological washing powder/liquid in the house as it irritates DS1's skin, and Sainsbobs didn't have any Biotex when I went there earlier.
I use laundry gloop and for the second time I washed the pjs, used double the usual amount of gloop, plus a scoop of soda crystals, plus double the amount of vinegar as conditioner.
It didn't work.
I've got bicarbonate of soda, borax substitute, soda crystals, bleach, stardrops, steradent, glo white for net curtains, Dr Beckman's colour run remover...
What do you think could help for adding to the wash for next wash of the pjs - or am I fighting a loosing battle with polyester?
I did get some new cotton pjs today for him, though of course they need washing first too...

I would suggest soaking them overnight in a bicarb solution! add a good heaped tablespoon to a bowl of water and soak. then wash as normal. if you can still smell wee (infections can make it smell very badly) then double or triple the amount of bicarb and soak again!0

Thank you, meritaten, will start soaking! He'd only stopped wetting the bed this year, so I'm used to washing wee-soaked stuff, but the stench is new.0

You could try soaking everything overnight in good old fashioned napisanBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Thank you, Butterfly Brain, I'll certainly get a box of Napisan as well as Biotex (my mum's old favourite) when I can find them.0

both biotex and napisan are great - but, for emergencies if you only have bicarb then it will work!0

And it did! Thank you meritaten J I soaked 2 pairs of pjs overnight in a bucket of bicarby water, and my goodness it smelt horrid this morning (ewww!). I added another spoonful of bicarb to the washing machine too and did an extra rinse, and it was all fresh and lovely when I got it out of the machine. Had to finish off the drying in the tumble dryer (not at all ideal!) and the fleecy pjs are still fine. Weirdly, the cotton pjs now have a slight whiff, so I’ll soak again. But it’s enough that I can catch up with the sheets and duvet and let the pjs wait a bit.Butterfly_Brain wrote: »Wilkinsons do napisan and I get biotex from 99p stores0
