My husband had a job interview on Monday :j First proper interview for a proper job since he lost his on September 4th. I'm trying to tell him it was an achievement in itself but he's very hard on himself at the moment.

He was told by the agency it was 'protocol' to interview other candidates but they 'loved him, his attitude, his knowledge and his presentation'. I told him that he has done his absolute best and now it's in the lap of the gods.

The company has had to spread out interviews and do a couple a day all this week and have told him he will know by the end of the week - the wait is eating us up!

In the meantime he's continuing his job search as much as his feedback was very positive he is not assuming anything.

Any chance of some positive thoughts for me to show him because I am trying to get through to him it's a massive achievement what he has already accomplished. :T
Bankrupt June 15th 2009. Early discharge granted March 4th 2010. Nose completely clean ever since. Credit files cleaned up and all say satisfied.

  • Actually, getting a job interview so soon is an achievement in itself nowadays! :D And great feedback - I hope you will get the 'call' as soon as their interviews have finished, but even if it doesn't work out, you know that he does a great interview (and the agency will be rooting for him since the sooner they help him to get a job, the sooner they will get money in their pocket! :))

I look forward with fingers crossed for you and him.

  • While the figure varies from sector to sector, on average only about 20% of applications reach interview. Recruiters don't interview just to be nice, they do it because you've impressed sufficiently they feel you're worth investing their time and money in interviewing. Many candidates don't get interviews, let alone feedback and such positive feedback at that that. In the worst case scenario that he isn't succesful, your husband has already done really well. However, it's easy to appreciate why he might not feel that way at present. I really hope the decision goes your way. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
