tips for hair that frizzes soon as I go outside!!!

I have just had my hair cut into a just above shoulder length bob with layers around the front and a side fringe and it looks lovely first thing in a morning when ive washed dried and straightened it. Then I head out with the kids to do the school run and by the time I get home its a wind swept mess!!!

We're talking kinks on one side, it goes slightly curly and just looks horrid :(

At the min im using dove smoothing shampoo and conditioner, lee stafford heat protection spray before blowdrying and then again before straightening with my lee stafford poker straight straighteners.. I usually finish with lee stafford dehumidifier spray but my hair still goes crazy.

Im going out on friday night for my birthday and am dreading my hair going crazy as soon as I go outside. Anyone got any tips????

    Hi Zoesmummy,

Can I ask why you want to straighten out your curls? I've only recently started the Curly Girl method (thanks to Firefox who I have been stalking on these sorts of threads!) but even before that I was trying to work with the curl rather than against it. I remember my mum telling me lots of people would love to have hair like mine but I didn't believe her until recently - I have had lots of compliments since starting the method.
  • its not curly all over literally just one side near the front of my face the rest just kinks out rather than under, my hairs quite straight normally. Its just this weather recently thats making it go insane. Ive just gone to pick the kids up from school and had put some hairspray on my hair in the hope that that might keep the straight style but nope I look a windswept mess again :(

Your right this weather is a nightmare, I have an afro today instead of curls:rotfl:put it up, tie it back, wear a hat, these are my best suggestions to stop you being stressed and causing your hair death by overheating and products:)

As do I. Sounds like the OP and I are hair twins. ;)

Actually, that's the one thing a keratin blow dry is brilliant for. Checkout the deals sites for them - I've never paid more than £45 and for 12 weeks plus of perfect smoothness, that ain't bad!!

    Are you me?!
I don't have full blown curls sadly just annoying kinks and this fine mist has been a PITA :(
I've kinda given up and embracing bad hair days  my hair is fine so I worry about weighing it down with too many products.....

  • well I went with frizz ease this morning and my hair looked lovely and sleek, but am home from the school run and the sleek look is now a windswept mess again lol. Thinking I may have to resort to an updo somehow for friday night...though I know after a couple cocktails I wont care anymore lol.

My hair is quite thick but my friend who is a hairdresser and who cut my hair said its in lovely condition and said its so shiny. I think for school runs from now on im just gonna have to tie it back :( damn british weather
  • I have the same problem :( I don't even know why i bother doing my hair in the morning sometimes!!
I've found the best way is to find a good shampoo & conditioner, I use John Freida Sheer Blonde and i've found my hair sits a lot better with it. I also use John Freida 3 day straight, i spray it on before i straighten my hair.
I've also found that my hair tends to revert back to the way it was dried, it takes longer but try drying your hair as straight as possible before you straighten it.

I've given up now though, i just scrunch mousse in my hair and dry & straighten my fringe. It doesn't change in the weather and it takes me 30 minutes less in the morning!!
