Hi all,
Having completed my Teaching Assistants course, i am now in a position to apply for vacancies within schools. They want me to list my work history with my most recent first, but as i have not worked for a few years do i put my college/placement school in here or my last job, which was 3 years ago? If this is the case when do i explain my employment gaps, do i list them on a separate sheet?
As you can tell it has been a few years since i filled out an application, and i have certainly never had to write a person spec/profile, seems like an epic to me!
Any advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

You need to put the most relevant position first. This would be your placement work.
As long as you have a good reason for the gaps such as child rearing then you should be ok.There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't.0 -
Put your placement but in brackets make sure you say it's a placement, and whether it's a paid role.
Sort by date.0 -
It comes down a little to what else the form asks elsewhere.
Strictly your work history is just that and so you would only include your paid jobs. I have however seen plenty of CVs/ application forms that had career breaks etc included and tbh it made life easier than having to refer elsewhere.... in part it would depend how many there are and what reasons they were for. I wouldnt expect anything like a 1-3 months between jobs listed out but 1 year off to do charity volunteering in Africa I may insert.
Most forms would have a separate section for education or qualifications where the course would more naturally sit0 -
Hi, What I would do is list your work history and then list your college courses, the dates will account for any gaps.
I've recently (yesterday!) been successful in getting a job in a nursing home :j and they wanted to see my whole employment history. A couple of years ago I had a gap of six months where I was made redundant, then it took that long to find another job  They simply accepted that I'd been redundant and not my fault. I did say that I'd used the time to take further courses. Which were in reality the freebies offered by the Job Centre. It all depends on how you word these things
As for the person spec/profile, some application show what is needed anyway. So you could tailor your profile around these.
I'm sure during your training you will have had a few ideas yourself on how you would do things once qualified.
