I'm Giving Up Smoking
Comments

I used the patches (and got some on special 2-4-1) at my local asda pharmacist. Saved me £20 just when i needed it, been almost 5 months since i decided to quit, I stuck to the patches 10 weeks program and had lots of support from friends and family (they all smoke but came here with out their cigs, or went outside to smoke). If i said i fancied a cig, my mate would shove bbq pringles in my hand instead.:D:D2026 Goals

Good for you - you can do it. A friend of mine who hasn't smoked for years corrected me when I told her I had given up and pointed that I hadn't given up anything, I'd stopped smoking. It made me laugh at the time, but in fact the more I think about it, the more true it is. Part of dealing with an addiction is dealing with the way we look at things in life, and although it sounds very subtle, there's a big difference psychologically between giving something up and stopping something.
In the early days, it's good to change your routines so that you don't put yourself in a position where you'd normally have had a cigarette and make yourself think about smoking. For instance, if you normally get up and have a cup of coffee & a ciggie, try having your shower first, then having a cup of tea.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Yes, it took me a while to get used to a new taste in my mouth, but for me it was more the smell of everything that was surprising after smoking for so long. It reminded me of pregnancy when you're often very sensitive to smells. I felt everything was very highly perfumed, but after a while that settled down, as did the taste in my mouth.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
