  • You will need to split the pod, cut length ways down the middle then holding the end flatten the pod out and run a knife along the pod where it was cut to remove the seeds. Add this to you buttercream and mix through.

yes, it gives a hit of flavour on sponge cakes, bread pudding, rice pudding...... anywhere you'd use sugar really.

The longer you leave it, the more intense the flavour but once that sugar has been used up, ditch the pods & start again :)

Total bargain, but I bet my store has run out! Still worth making a trip out to investigate though.

Just had a thought...this is probably highly illegal, but has anyone used pods imported in a suitcase with their holiday washing?

ETA: got some this evening, there were loads!!! - and helpfully, not in the baking section otherwise I'm sure they would have disappeared fast. Am pleased to report they were long pods, like the Silver Spoon / premium brands and weighed a decent 4g per pack, not short and skinny like the Schwartz variety!

Big thank you to fellow MSErs, I feel v pleased with this buy!

  • I buy vanilla pods on eBay, they're a fraction of the shop prices:j:
