Waterproofing leather boots and shoes

I've just had my boots soled and heeled ready for winter and want to ensure my feet stay warm and dry. Any OSM tips for waterproofing leather please?

I've just googled it - do you know if it's possible to buy in shops rather than online?

I should think so, try a repairer.

Be careful - it depends on the type of boot. Dubbin can change the surface of your boots into a slightly sticky, non-shiny surface, albeit soft, waterproof and comfortable.

For warmth, pound shops sell thermal insoles which are wonderfully springy, warm and comfortable.

Beeswax polish will give waterproofing and shine so you could use your beeswax and turpentine homemade furniture polish or buy a product such as this:

Good old kiwi boot polish. 2 brushes one to apply and the other to take off. Done most days gives a good waterproof coating

Put boot polish on your boots but DO NOT polish it off, leave it overnight then buff polish. The oils from the polish will have soaked into the leather overnight.
