Gift for child with difficulties

Can anyone suggest a gift for a 9yr old girl who has OCD and ADHD.
Instead of buying the latest 'in thing' we want to get something that will keep her occupied.
A keyboard has been suggested to us as she can keep herself busy tring to learn how to pay it.
Any advice appreciated.

[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I would do something that she works independantly on (such as keyboard or Hama beads) often tasks/sports which are independent and not team based are much more accepted and have a positive influence on behaviour as it builds self confidence and skills

Hi,
How about making up a little box of tricks.
Tangle or fidget sticks
Something that lights up ( maplins do sound activated drinks mats and bars) fab for kids with difficulties .
Space blanket that can be scrunched
Sensory things like fleece, lace, taffeta etc. can be sewn together to make cat of nine tails ( sort of ) some good ideas for box's on eBay just type in autism or ADHD .
Try bells or chime hearts.
I work for a children's charity for children with special needs so if u would like any more ideas or photo' s just ask.
What a lovely idea, I'm sure she will love what ever u get .0 -
Have you been to the Eden Project online shop? They have a lot of really cool toys that are educational and will keep your niece entertained (and it supports a good cause, too!)
(I'd post a link but the site says I'm too new!)
I will say when I was about 8, I was given a mini keyboard and I loved it, but I did have a hard time playing it after awhile, the keys were just too small. I still miss my keyboard, it used to have pre recorded songs you could listen to, it drove my parents crazy, but to me it was good fun!0
