Depends what sort of work you are looking for too. I've temped through Brook St some years ago and they were pretty ok to deal with. I would recommend trying some agencies, depending if you need work quick or are looking for a career type job you can find agencies that specialise in both.

Royal Mail usually start taking on mail sorters at this time of year. You could call Royal Mail direct and ask them which agencies they place work with. A LOT of the vacancies in the job centre will be agencies anyway, so I would suggest cut out the middle man and go to the agencies direct. Manpower and Blue Arrow tend to have call centre type vacancies, and Manpower always used to do a lot of banking/finance type work too.

I believe the Highcross has its own vacancies board somewhere and HMV are always worth a punt at this time of year.

    Good luck.

p.s., Miss Sarah seems a bit harsh to me, Linkedin is not even a vacancy type website, it's more for networking imho. Don't take snippy people to heart and come back and ask for more advice if you need it.

A lot of those websites are not suitable. OP's background is working in a pub. ACCA Careers? Seriously? Gumtree is also not a good place to look. It's full of scams.

So? I worked in Superdrug when I was a teenager. How do you know the OP hasn't got a degree in something? They said they are open to anything. They are 32 years old not 20. I just posted the sites I use but seriously if someone has to ask where to look for a job it's no wonder they are in a pub!

Gumtree is not FULL of scams. There are scams everywhere you just need to be wise to them.

That's a really horrible thing to say. What's wrong with working in a pub? This is meant to be moneysavingexpert.com not superciliousjudgements.com
