You just use it like you would in a normal shop. Give it to them and ask for one of the above. The free fries are only available when you buy a Big mac or Mc Chicken. The Cheeseburger, hamburger or McFlurry come free with any meal.

Technically you can get the burger/mcflurry with any student card but can only get the free fries with BigMac/ChickenSandwich if you have the "NUS Extra" card.

In reality, most McDonalds staff do not know this. When I worked at McDs as a student I would give people the fries anyway, none of my colleagues applied the NUS Extra rule so I didn't either.

lol I was in with a kids party the other day and remebered about this...had bought a meal for1.99 wth a bus ticket voucher (as had all the parents) then I went back up afterwwards and just showed my card and they asked what I wanted, mcflurry please! everyone in our party was able to use (a) card also, not at time of purchase...you could live on mcds if you were skint!
