Which other sites to use?

There are loads of other comp sites but the other comp sites arent like mse, they are run by individuals who obviously need to make money for servers & webpage, so spam etc is a big issue.
I personally avoid 'prizefinder', ukprize, competitionstoday, uk-prize as these are not run 'out of the goodness of their hearts'..
(and TOTALLY AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE -ANY site where they say - 'for a small amount each month we will enter thousands of comps on your behalf' - as these are a con) -.nb.most comps nowadays only accept entries from the individual, and not 'on behalf of you'
Mse is a FREE resource and the comps forum is literally only 5% of what mse is about there are great other forums tips etc to help you in life, the comps are for fun, but are free and wont get you any unwanted spam.
And to be honest you shouldnt really need any other site as the main regualrs on here couldnt even keep up 100% with every comp posted on here, there just isnt enough time, so you dont need anywhere else. (i spend 8-12 hours a day at my comp and im only 1 or 2 days in front, and I never even get time to do the dailies)
but its your choice..Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
and wont get you any unwanted spam.
I agree with you up until that point. Comping always attracts spam. Even if you are carefully and tick every box possible - you'll still get something, whether it be a catalogue through the post, an email or a phone call offering you £xxxx back for PPI claims.
But I see it as fun, especially when I'm in a foul mood (quite a lot recently with my hormones) and I get a silly phone call from someone telling me I'm entitled to thousands from mis-sold loans - shame I haven't had any - or that my computer has a virus. I just LOVE winding them up! :rotfl:Thanks to all posters :A0 -
Yes Sorry i wrote that slightly wrong, I meant you wouldnt get spam from the actual site mse.
(and as per my post about the amount of comps listed, a few regulars have been giving me tips about how to do the dailies - so i thought this weekend I'll have a proper crack at them.....and Nope still confuse the heck out of me!!!! (fortunately there are enough 'normal comps' to keep me going) But at least i had a go, maybe i'll try again in a couple of weeks and by this time next year i will also be doing the dailies lolStill comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
Just don't confuse SPAM with Marketing. The odd catalogue or email is a reason that companies run the comps in the first place, to generate interest in their Company. It's when an unscrupulous Company sells on your details or you miss a Third Party tick box that the problems can arise.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

Copied from here http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/spam.html
The term spam can also be used to describe any "unwanted" email from a company or website -- typically at some point a user would have agreed to receive the email via subscription list opt-in -- a newer term called graymail is used to describe this particular type of spam.
To me Spam includes those marketing emails, its any email that is sent electronically that I dont really want, like these newsletters I have signed up for. It is not just loans and PPI etc. So sorry to disagree, but I think marketing is spam, its the graymail variety. Though I do understand why we get them. Also Spam doesn't bother me, I just delete 99% of it, doesn't take more than a minute or so to go through my inbox and junk mail. Though I do look at some marketing emails if it interests me, though thats not a lot TBHCurrent Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday

Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -
We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. You state yourself "like these newsletters I have signed up for". If you signed up for them they're not unwanted as far as the Company are concerned and they will almost always offer you a way to stop receiving them in each email that they send you. It's the ones that you just can't stop that are the problem. Personally I think that if anyone objects to getting emails from Companies then they've chosen the wrong hobby.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

That's what I think - it's just an added downside to comping unfortunately
But.... I have bought things advertised in newsletters / emails received. So they work for some, not for others
Vanpopple - go through the list of dailies and just choose ones you are interested in - I bookmark them all, I think I have around 30 in total. Obviously, Christmas time I'll have more  so I think if you want to get started, do it now before the craziness!!Thanks to all posters :A0 -
Thanks for the tip 'jaibaby' - so I take it Id go to page 1 of dailies and say select any i like from post1 onwards?
Or are they older comps? (i think this is where i havent got my head around what is a brand new comp and 1 thats say 3-4 weeks old).
And does anyone have the same problem as me on the comps where there are 5 questions (where youd tick no) I tried some last night and it took 4-5 minutes for each page to load after entering the first one (and thats where ive been thinking i could enter 10 comps in that time rather than waiting for pages to load.....it usually says 'please l;ook at these offers while we check you answers????Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
VP, do you use Roboform? If you do, then for the magazine dailies, I strongly suggest that you set it up according to CompAlex's fabulous post: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4201851
It's not as complicated as you think. Follow it step by step. It's easy and it works really well.
I do two lots of dailies. One is the magazine dailies as I just mentioned, the other is my own set that I make up as I go through the main board comps. When I get to a daily that I want to keep doing I add it to my own Word doc file. I save them in end date order and save 3 things per comp:
1) The title
2) The link to the MSE page
3) the link to the comp
