Is this legal?

a friend of mine has managed to get Glastonbury tickets the other week. however, the only ones left by the time he got through were the coach ticket/entrance ticket combined. He's happy to travel via coach but it leaves on the Wednesday and he can't have that much time off work.
See tickets say that only his coach ticket will be sent to him and that his actual entrance ticket will be handed out on the coach (which he's unable to get). So basically, if he doesn't get on that coach at THAT time he'll lose his ticket (and money).
Is it legal what they're doing? Surely, he's paid for his ticket and should be sent it along with everyone else?
Can anyone help at all?

I have no idea about the legality of the situation.
However, if he's happy to make his own way there, then probably the best bet is to contact the coach company and explain the situation. They may (if asked nicely) be agreeable to meeting him there at a pre-arranged time and location for him to collect his ticket.
He could possibly get the driver's mobile number and give him a ring when he gets there. I can't see why the coach company would object, since he's paid to travel and is not using their transport.
Can't hurt to ask.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
More tickets were released for the festival this year under the agreement that these extra tickts would only be sold with combined coach packages. The festival tickets will not be handed out until on the coach and arrived at festival to stop people buying tickets and making their own way there.

Good luck if you try this - i've worked at the coach station on site its unlikely the driver will have time to hang around and wait. The coaches get there when they can and security/coach station staff kick them out asap as space is at a premium. Bearing in mind he won't be able to get on site without a ticket.
As far as legality goes... wasn't all this pointed out at time of booking????I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -
I can't see anything that would make this illegal.
If you buy a package holiday to take advantage of a cheap hotel in the combined deal, the holiday company would be quite entitled not to honour the hotel part of the booking.
This package is under the same principles.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I went to Reading Festival on the coach from Milton Keynes last year, and the tickets were actually handed out to people as they queued to get on board. I could have queued up but not got on the coach and made my own way to the festival site another day as the tickets were just normal entry tickets. However, whether this is "standard" or not is another matter - I don't know if I'd want to risk it if I knew that I couldn't get the coach. I think it's probably a safe bet, on reflection, as if the tickets were handed out on the coach then you'd need someone to walk up and down the aisles handing them out - this way, the ticket staff stay in the coach station and you don't have to send them out on the coaches so you need fewer people.0
