Cheap haircut in Glasgow?

Hi everyone,

My hairdresser has left town and I need a new one! I only get my hair cut every 6 months or so to save money, I keep it long and just have a few layers in it. I've heard that some salons have training nights where you can get a cheap haircut and also that some colleges do hairdressing courses where its cheap but I can't seem to find any!

I live in the west end and work city centre so either location would do!

Thanks for any help that anyone can suggest!:D

if you are adventurous, the rainbow room on great western road often put out a sign asking for models. (don't know how regularly they do it though).
you don't get to choose the haircut (though you can say no i'm told)
you go in and tell them your name and it may take 4 months to get an appointment. but then, it's free. my daughter got a super cut there for free.

i was told by an acquaintance that you can go in to the central college of commerce on cathedral street and get a cheap cut done by students.
but it was a man who told me. he goes in at around 11 am without an appointment, but i would want to ask first.

Ton&guy have a studio for training in I think Gordon St. Most big places have them. Have been to Rainbow room in the past, but they treat thier staff so badly that I wouldnt go back. Rita Rusk also have one in Glasgow town centre, used to be Hope St, must have a web site. Check that out, all under supervision and you can have some say in what they do

Rainbow Room have a training academy in royal exchange square - I got a cheap cut there a while ago.

I also used to study briefly at the Central College of Commerce and you can go along there for cheap haircuts and beauty treatment...was a while ago so I'm not sure of the set up now....

hey, I wouldn't personally go to Rainbow Rooms not heard the greatest things about them but I'm sure they must do some good work because they are very successful. In my opinin the best hairdresser in Glasgow is Cusp on Argyle Street in the West End, along from Kelvingrove art gallery diagonally across from The Goat pub. Not that cheap but not that expensive and have had too many good haircuts there to mention. Kevin is very good.

I do see the attraction of going for a model/trainee night type thing but if you don't get your hair cut that often maybe its worth getting it done right every time...

I've often thought someone should set up an online review type thing of hairdressers to help you decide where to go because its often a case of "try it and see" and sometimes it goes horribly horribly wrong!

Had my hair cut and blow dried at the college on friday and very satisfied. I'm a little bit biased because my daughter is training there and always cuts my hair. They cut on a friday and colour on a thursday, so i'm told. Definately worth a try:j
