How do people input their phone number?

Help please,

I have been comping for a couple months now and have not received any phone calls. Autocomplete inputs my number as 44 instead of +44 and after wondering why I have not been getting any calls I finally tried to ring my phone using 44 rather than +44 and have gotten an automated voice saying "phone is not connected blah blah blah". I am now worried about how many wins I have missed out on because of this after countless hours of entering :(

How do other people normally enter their phone numbers? is it best to use +44 in case the comp is from another country? I had autocomplete set to enter my number as 079... but it insisted on 4479... without the plus sign.

Thanks for your help!

Autofill automatically enters my mobile with the "44" which I change manually to the normal "077" etc.

I'm sure you wouldn't have missed out. With most competitions, you are required to enter an email address which a company could use as an alternative way of contacting you if the number is invalid. I also imagine that if someone had a winning entry, they would probably think to change the 44 if it didn't work.

Finally, I doubt you will be entering many international comps, so if you are worried I would change change it manually.

Hope that helps and hope you get that winning call soon! X

Before starting compting (newbie - 3weeks) I got quite a few 'selling' calls to my home number, so I try to never give out my landline.
I have a cheap 'pay as you go' mobile which I use as my home number if required. This is now getting regular 66333 (+ 88600) numbers which offer comp entries & 'FreMsg' but charge approx £4 for entry? + some apparently charge anyway and also if you text 'stop' etc.
Having a dedicated pay as you go mobile for comping would make sense to me; limitied funds to steal & easy to replace. Any suggestions.
    Its a minefield out there

I try not to put my phone number in unless absolutely necessary. I've even tried putting in a series of 00000 or 11111. If people want to contact me i've already written my email.

I know of a few companies who will call rather than email if you win and some of them will choose another winner if they don't get through to you by phone on first attempt so you could be missing out on wins. If you tick/untick boxes and don't enter dodgy comps then the number of sales calls in minimal (think i probably have 1 every 2 months)
