Cheap anchovies???

We eat a lot of anchovies in pasta sauces, but a change in our circumstances means they are out of our budget! is there a cheaper source anywhere? I looked in Lidl but nothing...Thanks.

I bought some in ASDA recently for 47p. I think they had a sale or reduced to clear label, so it was definitely not a permamanent offer, and I'm not sure if it's nationwide, but if you're going to ASDA anyway it might be worth having a look. They weren't in the tinned fish section, but on a separate shelf with other reduced jars and tins.

Aldis have them periodically about 70p a tin,

Asian stores to the rescue again , if your lucky enough to have some close.Definately cheaper than the S-markets

As others have said - the John West branded anchovies have had a makeover I think. So Asda have reduced all the old design tins (still ages on use by dates) to pennies. I stocked up a couple of weeks ago - worth a look
