Is my employer obliged to give my details to the Work Programme

I was wondering if my employer is obliged by law to disclose my employment details to the WP provider, such as job start date, staff number, etc. They need these to claim a job outcome. I'm trying everything I can think of to stop that from happening, because it seems unfair to me that they'll get a few thousand quid even though they did nothing to help me.
Basically I told my employer that I do not consent to this information being given to a private company like the WP provider, but they came back to me saying they need to check whether it's a legal requirement for them to do so, since the provider is in a contract with the government.
What do moneysavingexperts think?

What did you agree to when you joined the Work Programme? Did you agree to notify them of your employment and that they could seek confirmation from your employer?
Why is it that you thought the WP provider had done nothing to help you get your job? Had you applied and been interviewed before you had any dealings with this provider organisation?0 -
Ask the people who post on the Work Programme thread but from what I gather from a friend IF you have signed the form giving them (the work programme) consent to contact 3rd parties they then can write to the new employer but if the new employer has to write back and confirm anything I guess is up to them. I do not think it's law.0

They do not put you forward for jobs you know.0 -

I think you consent they will contact your employer when you sign the forms, what I'm trying to find out is if the employer is legally obligated to disclose my employemnt details to them- see title.
As for my experience with the WP, I've written quite extensively about it on a previous post:

To give you the short version: an insulting, demeaning, complete and unnecessary waste of my time, my patience and the taxpayers' money0 -
Remember the employer wont know the work programme company and if they are ligit. They are not the DWP. Why would an employer share all your info with an unknown company?DesertIsland wrote: »I think you consent they will contact your employer when you sign the forms, what I'm trying to find out is if the employer is legally obligated to disclose my employemnt details to them- see title.

Because the law says they should?
That's what I'm asking.0 -

But they're doing work on behalf of the government, they even have the authority to tell the jobcentre to sanction you.
I suppose they could get the jobcentre to contact my employer and ask them my details.0 -
They arent going to sanction you as you have a job!!!DesertIsland wrote: »But they're doing work on behalf of the government, they even have the authority to tell the jobcentre to sanction you.

No one has to tell anyone you work there or not, it's nothing to do with them unless you have signed the form with the work programme.
You do not even have to tell the Job Centre where you are working if you no longer get benefits.0 -
As an employer I totally refused to give details to a work programme provider , as the person was rude and thought that sending the paperwork off to her should be my priority. She called me 5 times in 5 hours asking if I had completed it! I am a very busy person after the 5th call I informed her the paperwork was getting binned. I am sure if she could have compelled me to sign or threatened me she would have.0
