Npower smart plug???

Just reading the paper while on lunch (and surfing on here) and saw an Npower advert. You get a free 'Smart Plug' that turns off your TV (and other things I presume) if left on standby when you sign up to them.

Do these work and can they be bought elsewhere? Model is Power Safer PS 3.x?

  • I saw something similar on Dragon's Den recently - it turned your TV off at the socket when you switched it off on the remote. I wouldn't have thought these would be in the shops yet though. Anyway, I normally find the switch on the socket does the trick nicely!:rotfl:

I agree art-student, however the plug in my bedroom for the DVD and TV are hard to reach as they are behind furniture so I've become lazy switching them off - this would be fab for me! But then how would I switch it back ON at the plug????

Not quite the same looks wise, but yes I guess it's the same idea!
  • I've got standard timer plugs all round my house which are set to only be on at times I'm likely to be using them so even if i forget & leave something on standby it won't be for long.

Cheaper maybe to buy extension 4 way block with switch on the block. Run that to the socket behind furniture then plug TV and DVD in to 4 way block. then you can switch the switch on the 4 way block and not have to crawl behind furniture to get to socket!
