Best ever cookbook

for two adults who work shifts????

Since I started to work as a cook and therefore work shifts, I've not only lost the will to cook, I've lost the inspiration , just bringing home a salad box if I remember, or eating a bag of crisps if I forget

So what cook book have you found to be great for inspiration, and as easy as 1, 2 3?

I was looking Jamies 15 mins meals - but they did all seem to be high fat content ( DH has high cholesterol)

I like to have a book to refer to but sometimes having to adapt recipes for fewer people can be a nuisance but there are so many great websites...

And guess what I have just done a search for recipes for two persons and such a lot of websites have come up...

  • I would say any slow cooker recipe book would be perfect! Low effort, tasty, healthy if you want it to be, and the food generally reheats well :-)

Agghh your settling into single woman eating pattern and you OH will do the same! Watch out for weight gain.

Start making up one portion meals for microwaving and freeze these, or save leftovers from big meal, (e,g, roast dinner) same with big one meal soups like chunky vegetable, meatball, pea and ham), so you have something instant. Make up fresh pesto sauce, buy long shelf life meat like chorizo, sundried tomatoes and olives to throw together some pasta dishes. Always have salad ingredients and make up fruit salad portions. Have some frozen uncooked rolls in your freezer for cooking from frozen. Chop up some mediterranean veg and leave in the fridge, for roasting. finally don't be snobby with food, don't forget how tasty and filling beans on toast or poached eggs can be.

It has easy and tasty meals and lovely for inspiration. Get to the library if you can to have a look through to see if it suits you.
Just found it for a much more sensible price

Actually recent research shows that a diet lower in carbs is the most effective in lowering cholesterol levels. And eggs are easy and great and NO, eating cholesterol does not contribute to high cholesterol, that has always been a myth.

Go back to eating a wide variety of veg and meat with natural fats (not highly processed ones such as vegetable oil) without the puddings, biscuits etc and the chances are his results will improve. A grilled lamb chop with a few veg does take long to prepare. Some nice oily fish with a salad is great.

N.B. My dad's GP was astounded at the speed and level of improvement in his cholesterol levels when he refused to take the statins his GP prescribed, rejected the advice to give up cheese entirely (he's veggie and had already cut it down to once a week anyway) gave up benecol and went on Atkins instead. He wasn't particularly overweight but he watched Chris Gardner's study and felt he had nothing to lose by giving it a go and eating the food he enjoys.
