changing surname on mortgage

Hi
I have been married now for 3 years but never got round to changing my surname on mortgage!
Preparing to move soon and hopefully applying for a new mortgage so trying to make sure everything in my finances/accounts is in check.
Anyway my mortgage is with Lloyds TSB and in both my husbands name and my maiden name. I took all my ID/marriage certificate etc into branch today but was told that I do not need to change it and need to keep my name as it is? Can anyone in the know confirm if this is correct and if so will it cause any problems when I come look for a new mortgage when all my other accounts are in my married name?
thanks

You can change your name on your mortgage. I'd go back to branch with the ID/Marriage certificate and ask them again (hopefully you'll get someone more helpful!) Make sure they update the mortgage account though and not just your bank account.
Failing that, you could send a copy of the certificate in the post with a covering letter. They'll be able to give you the address if you call customer services on 0845 603 1637.0 -
The branch may not be able to change the mortgage details. I had to send a copy of my marriage certificate by post to the mortgage company. My branch couldn't even tell me my loan balance, apparently they run on totally separate systems. I'm with Santander though.
I would advise getting it changed. It's much easier having all your house purchase and selling paperwork and mortgage in the same name. It's one less thing to cause confusion and delays.I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

Many thanks for your replies. I agree best to have same name on all my accounts so if we do decide to take the plunge and move it may help minimize delays!

thanks for this. I will give them a call on Monday and get the correct address. I don't think i'll go back to the branch. Got the feeling they really didn't know much when it came to mortgages!0
