I'd like to get an all for one type remote but a bit worried it will or won't properly with all our units.
We have sky+hd,Samsung tv and Samsung dvd surround sound.
Can anyone please recommend a good all for one remote that will work well with all three giving all the full facilities on each unit?
Thanks
F

They are more hassle than they are worth usually, you'll probably end up reverting to the originals in no time and be stuck with an expensive paperweight.!!

Good price for a good remote here (even though it's PC World);

Our tv remote broke the week before last so I thought it would be a good idea to go for one of these. I bought the most expensive 'one for all brand' but could not get it to work on the sky hd box and could only get it to control the volume on the tv which is a Pansonic newish tv.
I returned it to store and swapped it for the cheapest on the shelf just to control the tv and am sticking to the sky remote.0 -
I agree with closed, all in ones are usually hard to program and are never as straightforward as the original remotes.
Does your Samsung DVD surround sound system support HDMI link to the TV? This is probably not enabled as a default. If so, once this is enabled on TV and DVD you will be able to control the Surround sound master volume with the TV remote , the surround system should also power on and off with the TV automatically.
If you have not already done it the sky + remote can be programmed to switch on and control the volume on most TVs so you will rarely need the TV remote and only need the DVD remote for watching films.
I have found that as well as on/off and volume the sky remote will also let me select AV input to the TV so I almost never need my TV remote now.

The Logitech Harmony works perfectly with every device in our house. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Tried quite a few remotes over the years, but most were useless. But then I found the Logitech Harmony range.
I have used a Harmony remote for years but it cost in the region of £60.
There are different models and I would recommend one that is re-chargeable.
They can be programmed to start or shutdown all your devices with the press of a single button. I wouldn't be without it.
They are programmed using a PC via USB and the supplied software, so it takes a fair bit of effort.0
