Help Please!

Hi,

I wonder if one of you lovely ladies can help me?!

Myself and partner have been talking about marriage a lot recently (Friends started to ask when it would be us next!) and we've started to look at venues etc. As we've kinda started it and this had taking the moment away from me which I wanted to be special when I asked her to marry me. I've found a nice idea and hopefully be doing it very soon.

Anyway, we found a lovely venue today and provisionally booked as the lady at the venue told us to check with the registrar first on what times they have.

It kinda hit home there is more than this than expected!

As we're looking for September next year the lady told us we could apply now.

I just want to check I'm on the right track.

As its in Longridge near Preston is the right place...

I'm just worried and unsure how quickly the times goes and want to get an earlier than later time!

Is there anything else I should do?

Thanks!

Hi there :) First off, congrats!
I would say that the main thing to do if you're sure on a venue is to try and liaise between the venue and registrar to book a date. I had quite a bit of juggling to get the date for both and in the end the council very kindly put on another registrar for our date.
Beyond that I would decide what kind of wedding you want - style, numbers etc. If there are things you feel particularly strongly about (i.e. a certain band or photographer) I would try and get them sorted as soon as you can as they tend to book up quickly. Most of these things would only need a deposit paid.
Oh and wedding insurance is handy too, just in case a company or supplier goes bust. Ours cost less than £20 from ecclesiastical but is worth the peace of mind.

The venue and registrar are the biggies so I would tick them off first :)

    Thanks for that Cathy!

The venue only had two dates in the month left so hopefully we can arrange to suit both then!

Thanks for the extra advice, this is going to be fun! haha

Aw it really will be fun! You'll both want to pull your hair out too lol a good thing to remember is "you can't please all of the people all of the time" so try not to stress if people start playing silly beggars. Weddings seem to bring out the worst in some people!

It's a really good idea to get a spreadsheet or something going so you can really easily keep an eye on what's being spent, what's left to pay etc. Should help you stay within budget as wee expenditures here and there soon mount up!

    Haha probably!

I agree, excel will be our friend and I'll be sick of using it soon!

Funnily enough we have a lot of family coming over from Belfast :)
