Total cost: £5
Details
First get a large empty Coffee Jar, chances are you will have one in the house therefore will cost nothing, however if havent budget for this, can pick a cheap one from poundland
Then buy a £1 Scratchcard. A lottery Ticket costing a £1. A Euromillions costing £2.
Cover the outside of the Coffee Jar with pictures of the recepitants fave celeb or Icon. Get these from old magazines already in the house, alternatively print them of from the computer or alternatively ( could always do both depending on what offers on at the time)
Fill the jar with Skittles to make it bright and colourfull, can pick a large pack up for about a £1 from home Bargains, Poundstores etc
Place the Lottery Ticket, Scratchcard and Euro Millions tickets in a foodbag (to stop them getting sticky)
Along with the Tickets and Scratch Card write a personalised Message, can be anything you want to make it personal
My suggestion would be, a little something from me to you, cross your fingers, cross your toes, and hope for all the Luck in the world, love from Me xxx
P.s. If no luck please remember you have me ( insert a picture of the 2 of you together , guaranteed to make them smile)
Oh and a packet of Tissues from Home Bargains for 10p incase they dont win anything :-) and if they do Bonus, least its guaranteed to make them smile and is personal and they can keep the jar to fill with what ever they like
Great, unique and fun gift and you never know it might make them a millionaire

Salted caramel sauce
Total cost: <£5
Details
Follow the recipe here... http://www.recipegirl.com/2011/12/17/salted-caramel-sauce-printable-labels/
Will make several presents depending on the size of jar you have in your stash. She's even included the labels you can download and print. Then you just need a presentation bag, something sparkly or Christmassy (The Card Factory (at least in Redhill) is selling the Christmas gift bags 8 for £1 for the small size, but you'd probably need the next size up (sorry, I didn't see the price on these)).
You need to be organised though as it only keeps in the fridge for a couple of weeks and you'll want fresh apples.
Total cost (Tescos): Sugar 88p/1Kg
Whipping cream (300ml) £1
Butter (Value range, 250g) 98p
Vanilla extract/Sea salt, possibly already in the cupboard
6 Braeburns (red) and 6 golden delicious (green) will set you back £1.80 and £1.60
Total cost for all that (which will be pressies for 3 people (more if you get more than the minimum 6 apples per pack)) is £6.26 (just over £2 per pressie) and if there's any left over caramel sauce it's great over ice cream!
If you want to make more than the one batch you'll need to double up the cream, but there should be enough sugar and butter to do several batches.0 -

Name of present: Winter wooly or Festive fleece pet bed
Whether it's bought or homemade: Both
Total cost: £3-5
Details (where it's from, how to make it etc): http://cats.wonderhowto.com/how-to/make-cat-bed-from-old-sweater-075135/
A practical gift for the pet lover (and their pet).
All you need is an old jumper, sweater or fleece (not v neck)
some stuffing - a couple of cushions or a pillow, or even clean fabric scraps will work ,
some wool/yarn, a large needle, and very basic sewing skills.
You can use items you already have or grab a jumper from a charity shop bargain 99p rail or jumble sale etc. Cushions (for the stuffing) available from poundland, charity shops etc.
Extra large jumpers will make a bed to fit a smaller dog,
Standard sizes suit cats & small dogs
* Kids size fleece jumpers can make beds for bunnies, guinea pigs, rats etc.
* If you make a pet bed for a smaller animal you will need to be more careful with your stitching and the filling you use - I also only recommend using a fleece or sweater (not knits), and keep a closer eye on the bed as they often like to nibble through fabrics!
You can use a Christmas design for a more festive gift.
If you have the sewing skills you can spend a little more time making the stitching less visible if you prefer.
You could personalise the bed by embroidering the pets name on, or embroider on a design.
Use contrasting yarn if you want your stitching to stand out (it also helps if you have more basic sewing skills).A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Name of present: Student Special!
Whether it's bought or homemade: Both
Total cost: £5-ish
I wanted to do something special for my father in law, but didn't have much money, so came up with this idea. He was really touched when I gave it to him & has requested the same again this year!
I bought a Kilner jar, but you could just use a jam/coffee jar to save money. I made 2 batches of fudge, one plain vanilla & one with toasted pecans.
I filled the jar with fudge, then using a pattern & threads I already had, I cross stitched a little picture of Santa & in backstitch wrote 'Handmade just for you' across the top.
I cut up an old cereal box to make a gift tag shape & stuck the picture onto it, then used a nice ribbon to tie it round the neck of the jar.
Details Jar-Can be bought from Hobbycraft or supermarket.
Ingredients for fudge-Sugar, Milk, Butter, Vanilla Extract. If you don't have them in, they can be bought for under £5 from any supermarket. Recipe here http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/513459
Gift tag-Just cut up an old cereal box/egg box/piece of card.
If you don't cross stitch, you could always draw a little picture on the gift tag, or even stick a photo of the two of you on there. I would recommend giving it a go though. Prices start about £1.70 for little kits with everything you need. This is just one website that sells them http://www.craft-kits.co.uk/stitch-m-xmas.htm
Easy peasy & the recipient will appreciate it a lot more than some generic store bought gift.A massive thank you to everyone who posts. It really is appreciated. :j0 -

Name of Present: Jewellery Box
Type: Home Made
Cost: Approx £3
Materials Needed: Craft Sticks (Lolly ice Sticks) cost £1.16, P.V.A Glue cost £1.50 and Shells cost Free or other decoration.
I made these when I was a child, my mum still has hers! Now I find myself making these with my daughter (age 3) and my nephew (age 8)
Step 1 Lay two sticks vertically, then stick on to these horizontally more sticks close together to form the base.
Step 2 Lay two sticks vertically, then glue in place two sticks horizontally, one across the top one at the bottom, then again vertically and horizontally till the sides of you jewellery box are high enough (we normally do about 6 high).
Step 3 If you haven't already glue the sides to the base.
Step 4 repeat step one to form the lid.
Step 5 Decorate.
Tips This looks good in natural craft sticks, but if using colour try using just 2 or 3 colours looks really good.0
