Honorarium NOT wages

If the job is as a Parish/Community Council Clerk then you must be paid through PAYE - HMRC tightened up the rules last April and I understand that Councils that don't comply will be made an example of.
Assuming the role is as Parish Clerk why isn't there money to pay you? It should certainly have been budgeted for and I would suggest that this should have been picked up in the audit process.
If it is a Parish Clerk role please take advice from either your County Association of Local Councils or SLCC.0 -
Hi I have a honorararium query to ask the advice of this forum. I'm a Verger of a local Church known affectionately as the "Cathedral" of the ...... I receive a honorarium of £250.00 paid in two six month instalments, twice yearly, every six months ie 2 x £125.00.
Because I do not receive a salary or wages, I'm also disabled and I claim income based Employment & Support allowance, I have declared this income to the DWP and they have deducted £4.80p per week from my Employment and Support Allowance. My savings with the honorararium do not exceed £6000. I do not claim housing benefit or council tax allowance.
Can they deduct my honorarium from my weekly benefit in full like this?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
